Barden first made an appearance on stage in 1999, with one minor part in a segment of the TV series My Parents Are Aliens. Then, she was in the episodes of No Angels as well as The Chase. In March 2007 she started playing the character of Kayleigh Morton in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street continuing until September 2008 after which the Morton family left Coronation Street. Barden began her career in 2007 when she appeared on the comedy drama Mrs. Ratcliffe's Revolution. Barden portrayed Pea as the leading character in Jerusalem on stage at the London's Royal Court Theatre before it moved to the Apollo Theatre West End.
