Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on Jan. 19. 1946 into a very humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could escape suffering through her imaginative mind. Before she could write or read, she was making up the songs she wrote herself. Within 8 years she got her first guitar. In the age of 11 she started singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The that same the year that Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. While she was a local star while in high school, her ambitions were greater. After she finished her high school, in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host in the late '60s, was looking for a girl to sing for his program. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. In 1974, she resigned from The Wagoner's Show due to the popularity of her solo songs like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was way ahead of their joint release. Parton composed I Will Always love You for Wagoner in the aftermath of their breakup. It made it to No. It was the first time that a song reached No.
